The city inspects such things as making sure the felt and flashing are installed properly and adequately and the ventilation is not obstructed.  This past year, the City found numerous instances in which companies were not installing the felt properly or adequately, among other structural issues.

  

The roofing companies doing business in Milton should know that a permit is required. If the company does not mention the need to obtain a permit or if they charge more than $75 for a permit, you should ask them to explain. It is not against the law for the company to charge an additional fee on top of what the City charges for the permit, but you as the consumer can certainly take this issue up with your roofing company. We are aware of one company that is charging an additional $75 for the permit!

  

The City also suggests that you receive at least three quotes.
